They were well rehearsed and spoke clearly and with great maturity and assurance, but were not able to beat all their opponents into the final at Churchill College later this month. Alt-hough long and stressful, the team and their families found the day highly enjoyable and Bridget, Nancy and Leo vow to do it all again next year

After much planning, preparation and practice, a new sixth form team lined up on Wednesday after school to compete in the local Rotary Club public speaking competition. Noah Blythe, our main speaker, ably presented his views - and those of the Chair Abi Lau, and Closer Emily Bickers – about the demise of music in the country’s school curriculum in an impassioned speech. A promising new ensemble, but beaten this year by Thurston Community College. Nothing daunted, they were great ambassadors for St Benedict’s as they chatted after the event to the Vice-President of the Rotary Club Ms. Lucy Perkins about musical instruments and support for young musicians.
