RSE
We are aware that Relationships, Health, and Sex Education covers many sensitive issues and so ensure its careful delivery across the school, in collaboration with parents.
It is reflected in different parts of the curriculum, depending on its nature and relevance, with the majority being in Religious Education (RE) and Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE) lessons. Science assists, for example, in that the biological aspects of puberty and human reproduction are in the National Curriculum. Key themes are also found in other subjects such as in Physical Education (PE) teachers promote respect for the human body and in English and Drama students study the relationships between characters in texts, poems and plays.
Within RE lessons, students complete a series of lessons which have been devised by Ten:Ten, an online educational platform in partnership with the Catholic Education Service. Before these lessons are run, a letter is sent home informing parents and guardians about what will be covered and providing a link where short summary videos of the content can be accessed along with a set of questions for further discussion at home.
